Rarely have I seen a more unpatriotic public display.
Paul Begala at The Daily Beast responds to the moment in last night’s GOP debate when audience members booed an openly gay U.S. soldier serving in Iraq. Watch the video here. (via theweekmagazine)

  • He doesn’t believe in the separation of church and state.
  • He believes abortion should be illegal.
  • He doesn’t support the repeal of DoMA and didn’t support the repeal of DADT.
  • He doesn’t support…

I mean. Sometimes you just have to take someone entirely apart like you have an owner’s manual and a free weekend.

Bachmann: Irene is God's message for Washington

themattsmith:

Raise your hand if you saw that one coming.

In the video, Bachmann can be seen smiling, and her spokeswoman was quoted as saying “Obviously she was saying it in jest.”  Which is… better?  SO, she’s either a nutjob who actually believes that God killed 25+ people because he doesn’t like the way the budget negotiations are going OR she’s someone who thinks it’s ok to trivialize the deaths of 25+ people to make a political point.

GOOD SPOKESWOMAN-ING, MS. SPOKESWOMAN

Is shock! Crazy woman is say crazy thing!

I was telling Sean about this the other day. Democrats should pray that this woman gets nominated, because beating her is as simple as recording the shit she says, and then playing it back for people.

Unfortunately, Mr. Huntsman, many people will call you crazy for believing that.

I’d like to believe, though, that in some alternate universe, somewhere, you’re the most viable Republican candidate for President. Even though I wouldn’t vote for you.

That’s a universe that I like. I bet they have free nachos there.

It’s something we have to look to the science on. The weight of the evidence is that most of it, maybe all of it, is because of natural causes… There’s lots of layers to it. But at least as to any potential man-made contribution to it, it’s fair to say the science is in dispute.

Tim Pawlenty, talking about climate change science

Not one, but two lies here: Destructive climate change is almost certainly due to man-made causes, and the science is not, in fact, in dispute.

Things that will ensure I won’t vote for you: Repeated demonstrations of either illiteracy or a willingness to ignore vetted scientific evidence.

“No, the jury is still out on whether the moon is, in fact, made of cheese.”
